Reject and Eject
Imagine this: You’re driving along the coastline chasing the sunset, windows rolled down, it’s 74 degrees, you’re listening to your favorite song, wearing your favorite t-shirt….. Everything for once feels right with the world and then suddenly your car runs out of gas. Within the next hour, the sun will disappear beyond the horizon and the gusts from the sea will push in cold winds. You have no jacket to keep you from the cold, no cell service to call for help…..it’s just you. It’s like you were once standing on top of the tallest mountain and then the next you were falling, tumbling down into a valley of despair. It’s as if “the good life” rejected you, with little to no explanation leaving you to your thoughts and emotions.
Rejection can be one the hardest things we will ever face. It’s scary, it’s defeating, it’s angering, it’s depressing…… We often only see what is happening right in front of us rather than looking ahead. Surely you’ve heard the saying, after every storm, there is a rainbow, and I truly believe in that. The question we often ponder is why are we turned away from the things that we so desperately want or think we need…… truth be told it's because that specific thing wasn't meant for you then. God has a plan for every one of us, and for us to get to where He has planned for us to go, we have to trust in Him no matter how much we feel that we are right. Rejection is a beautiful thing just as much as it is an ugly thing. It breaks you down in ways you never thought were possible. It makes you self-doubt your worth, ability, and worthiness….. But it only does that if you let it. Easier said than done, believe me, I know.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger…. So don't let the fear of rejection or the aftermath of being rejected defeat you and everything you are and have worked for. What I thought was my dream job, clearly was not meant for me after being turned away for something out of my control. I could go on and on about every curveball in my life, but this blog isn’t about me venting about all of my problems haha! Although it’s harder than I would like to admit, I look towards the light.
For every rhyme, there is a reason. Remember that.
Similar to the word reject, let's talk about eject. Whenever a movie is over, you often press the eject button to put the disc up and away. Not only is “eject” a button on the remote controller for a DVD player, but it’s also an intangible button that you have as well. We often forget to use that button because we feel like it’s a bad thing, but is it? When the movie is over do you feel bad pressing the button then? No. The same thing applies in real life. When things no longer serve you in a positive light, sometimes it’s time to hit the eject button. Now don’t ever take advantage of that button, remember we humans make mistakes too, however, when things become a cycle that never turns off it may be time to remove the disc and put it up and away.
You are your soldier, protect your heart and peace.
